5/30/13 7:15pm RISK String Orchestra RSVP + Gods and Goddesses

Next week we have an evening string session planned for the last Thursday of this month, and need your input if you want it to happen!

Evening RISK is something Kim and I thought up so that people with busy schedules during the day can come play some good folk music in the evening from 7:15pm to 8:15pm on Thursday, May 30th. Please RSVP to this post if you plan on coming - if we get enough replies, Kim and I will be there next thursday! If we don't, we'll let those who RSVP know, and we'll all have a nice quiet evening at home :)  So, invite your friends, neighbors and family!  We ask that participants chip in $5 if they have not joined RISK this session.

On another note, I had a request for the words to the Medieval song Gods and Goddesses:

Gods and Goddesses
Angels Fairies
Boys and Girls
Come dance in May

May Festival RISK

RISK has been invited to play the music for the spring May Festival Dance on Saturday, May 18th from 1pm to 4pm.  The celebration will take place at the Homestead School, 16245 Westside Hwy, Vashon, WA.

May Day is related to the Celtic festival of Beltane and the Germanic festival of Walpurgis Night. May Day falls half a year from November 1 – another cross-quarter day which is also associated with various northern European paganisms and the year in the Northern Hemisphere – and it has traditionally been an occasion for popular and often raucous celebrations.
As Europe became Christianized, the pagan holidays lost their religious character and either changed into popular secular celebrations, as with May Day, or were merged with or replaced by new Christian holidays as with ChristmasEaster, and All Saint's Day. In the 20th and continuing into the 21st century, many neopagans began reconstructing the old traditions and celebrating May Day as a pagan religious festival again.
